Maldon, Essex
Strategic Masterplan Framework and Outline Planning Application

Maldon is a town on the Blackwater estuary in Essex. It is the starting point of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation. It is known for Maldon Sea Salt which is produced in the area.

Maldon is one of the oldest recorded towns in Essex.

Maldon District Council’s policy was for a new Garden Suburb on land to the north of the town. Bluepencil produced the ‘Masterplan Framework’ document on behalf of Countryside Properties, for Maldon District Council.

Being based in Maldon, the District Council welcomed the ‘local knowledge’ that Bluepencil could bring to the project.
Bluepencil were involved in a number of consultation events, workshops and exhibitions, and gave presentations to the Local Authority on behalf of Countryside Properties in addition to masterplanning and detailed 3D studies of key areas of the site.

Bluepencil created all the documents and and illustrations with them over a two year period.
The Local Authority also requested Bluepencil to produce their ‘Spatial Vision and Strategy Plan’.
