Bramshill, Hampshire
Strategic Masterplan Framework and Outline Planning Application

Bramshill House, in Bramshill, northeast Hampshire, England, is one of the largest and most important Jacobean prodigy house mansions in England. It was built in the early 17th century by the 11th Baron Zouche of Harringworth.

City & Country had been working for a few years with other architects, on the restoration of the manor house and proposals for new housing within the historic parkland, when Bluepencil were asked to join the design team and intensify the density of the new housing element.

The brief was to increase the number of houses from 69 to 169 on the same development area and to create an attractive ‘Model Village’ which would be acceptable to English Heritage and the Design Review Panel.

The site was extremely sensitive, with important views and vistas to and from the Manor House which had to be considered, as well as a large number of protected ancient trees within the historic parkland. The site was undulating and in places steep and challenging.

In order to fully understand the topography and visual impact, Bluepencil created a 3D terrain model and designed the detailed layout on this model. This Revit model was exported to the rest of the design team to assist with their work - particularly useful for the LVIA work and in the creation of photoreal CGIs. The model was also exported into SketchUp for the client to use and comment on.
