Billericay, Essex
Residential

Billericay is a town and civil parish in the Borough of Basildon in Essex, England. It lies within the London Basin and is 25 miles east of Central London. The town has a wide variety of open spaces. The town is thought to have been occupied since the Bronze Age.

The layout shows 47 new properties (40 houses and 7 apartments) arranged in a square grid to match the grain of the existing settlement.

Housing is arranged around the perimeter of the site to give maximum privacy to the existing residents.

The layout is based on the use of a shared surface, very much encouraged in the Essex Design Guide.

There is a variety of different house types, each one specially designed for this site. Steep pitches and undulating ridge heights reflect this  common feature of historic streets in Essex.

The materials also reflect historic buildings and include brick, render and weatherboarding under plain tiles or slate roofs.
